Trefoil Card Game

Trefoil is a pile-based solitaire card game similar to La Belle Lucie. The game begins with the four Aces dealt into the foundation, and the remaining 48 cards are dealt into 16 piles of three cards each. Only the top card in each pile can be moved, and players can only build the tableau piles down by suit. The objective is to move all cards to the foundation, building them up by suit from Ace to King.

Unlike some other solitaire games, once all cards are removed from a pile, that pile is permanently gone, and no new cards can be added to restart it. To help in difficult situations, players have a limited number of shuffles available, during which all the remaining cards in the tableau piles can be picked up and re-dealt into new piles of three cards each. This adds an extra layer of strategy, requiring players to decide the best time to use their shuffles to maximize their chances of success.
